10 years ago today I was up all night waiting to see if all my Y2K projects were successful
10 years ago today I put in a very long day at Meredith Corporation in Des Moines, IA. Meredith publishes “Better Homes and Gardens”, “Ladies Home Journal”, the famous red and white checked “Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook” and a slew of other home and family publications. I was the Y2K Project Manager responsible for overseeing Y2K compliance for every one of Meredith’s computer systems. So instead of celebrating the new year, I and the rest of the information technology staff were testing and retesting systems to verify that they worked after the year changed from 1999 to 2000. Fortunately, no issues arose.
It was an ok job, but I kept wondering “Is this all there is?”
Fast forward 10 years. I no longer wonder, “Is this all there is?” I love my business! Ok, not so much when I have to give people bad news. I don’t think about what I do so much as work, but more as an adventure. Blogging has certainly been an adventure! After starting blogging 4 years ago, I’m still amazed at how much there is to learn! However, the best part has been all the terrific and interesting people I’ve met through my business over the past 5 years. Thank you all so much for giving me the opportunity to work with you and get to know you!
I’m hard pressed to believe that my life will improve as much in the next 10 years as it has over the past 10 years, but who knows! Best wishes for a wonderful 2010!

I’m so grateful for you – as a former colleague, a consumnate professional and a valued friend. Your professionalism is over the top. I feel lucky that our paths crossed and here’s to a GREAT 2010 for you – and the next decade, too!
All the best – Diane
Thank you, Diane! I’m grateful to have met you as well! I know you will do well in whatever your next adventure may be. I hope 2010 is awesome for you!
Fran I just got back from the Inman in NYC, and there was definitely a sense of relief in the air that 2009 was over and feeling of optimism as we entered 2010, which was so wonderful to feel again. I think the worst is behind us and strong Realtors like yourself that made it through these past couple of years, and going to be very successful as things begin to slowly rebound. All the best to you in 2010!
Thank you, Sara! All best to you too!
