Yesterday I toured the mansion for sale at 1336 N. State Parkway. in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. The home was built in 1914. It used to be the south wing of the Playboy Mansion when Hugh Hefner owned it. Hugh sold the main building (1340 N. State) to a developer who converted it into seven luxury condos. He donated 1336 N. State Pkwy. to the Art Institute of Chicago who sold it to a family who made it their home.
There are 5 levels including a basement in this 9,000 SF home. The square footage does include the finished lower level. It has 5 bedrooms, 5 full bathrooms and 4 half bathrooms. When I toured 1336 N. State Pkwy. I noticed 4 features that make it stand out from other Chicago mansions for sale.
- 1. 4 outdoor spaces
- 2. An elevator which you don’t often see in vintage homes here
- 3. A beautiful curved staircase joining the first and second levels above ground
- 4. 2 full kitchens and a mini-kitchen in the basement
The outdoor spaces are all on different levels. Three are on the back side of the home and one is a roofdeck on the front end of the home. There’s also a 2 car garage.
1336 N. State Pkwy. is located 5 blocks from the Red Line Stop at Clark and Division. It’s 4 blocks from Lincoln Park and Chicago’s lakefront.
For more details and photos see 1336 N. State Pkwy.
