THE BUILDING
Built in 1927 the neo-gothic style high-rise houses 50 apartments on 19 floors. According to Emporis.com, the design was inspired by the famous Chateau de Blois in France. Leased parking is available next door.
Some Chicago real estate sites incorrectly refer to this building as a condominium. It is a co-op which is an entirely different type of home ownership. As is typical with co-ops, an application and interview with the co-op board is required. A minimum down payment of 50% is required.

THE CO-OP APARTMENTS
1448 N Lake Shore Drive includes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 bedroom apartments. Styles vary from vintage to very contemporary. All of the units I’ve seen have in-unit laundry. Most of the apartments I’ve seen have gas cooking appliances. Only the C units on the southwest corner of the building have a balcony. The most recent sale was unit 16AB, a 4 bedroom that sold in March for $2,900,000.
