260 E Chestnut is between Lake Shore Drive and Dewitt. Chicago’s Lakefront is just 1 block to the east. The Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue is 2 blocks to the west.

THE BUILDING
Built in 1966 the modern style 43 story building houses 407 condos. It’s architecturally significant in that it was a prototype of the tubular structure used later in the John Hancock Center and Sears (now Willis) Tower. There’s a 24 hour door person and valet parking. Parking is leased at $225/mo. The building has an outdoor pool, sundeck, bike room, laundry room, storage room, fitness center and party room. Pets are ok.
Utilities included in the monthly assessment include: air conditioning, cable TV, heat and water. There are additional fees to use the fitness center, pool and bike room. As of June 1st The Plaza on Dewitt no longer allows new owners to rent out their units.
THE CONDOS
Studios, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units are available. The condos have electric cooking appliances. The units do not have balconies or in-unit laundry. The most recent sale was 1601, a studio that sold in May for $155,000.
