Last night 3 of the 5 houses I showed in Glen Ellyn claimed to have some kind of in-law potential.
The first had cabinets and a sink in the lower level (shown left) and along with a full bath. While this would be a handy work area, I think it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of providing in-laws their own kitchen.
The second house mentioned a room and full bath at the other end of the house as “perfect for in-law”. However, that room leads to the garage and I don’t think many in-laws would appreciate everyone else going through their bedroom coming in and out of the garage!
The listing for the third house mentioned “in-law arrangement”. We discovered that it consisted of a bedroom and full bath in the basement.
Since there is no agreed upon definition of what in-law potential, in-law arrangement, etc mean, it can mean pretty much whatever a Realtor wants it to whether it’s in Glen Ellyn or anywhere else in the Chicago area!
