55 East Erie condos for sale

Condos are for sale at 55 E Erie in the Cathedral District of Chicago’s River North neighborhood. Here’s a review of the luxury high-rise and condos I’ve previewed or shown. I’ve also included photos and details on other condos for sale. None are my listings.

THE LOCATION

55 E Erie is located between Wabash and Rush. It’s 1 block west of the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue. It currently has a Walk Score of 94 and a Transit Score of 100. The Cathedral District is an extremely walkable section of River North with numerous amenities in all directions. 55 E Erie is 3 blocks from the Red Line at Grand and State. THE BUILDING

Built in 2004 the 56 story building has 194 condos including 4 “sky-homes” (townhouses) on the 12th floor west of the main tower. Some of the amenities include a 24 hr. door person, indoor lap pool, exercise room and steam rooms. There’s also a dry cleaner, hospitality room and separate entrance/exit for those talking their dogs out for a walk.

The building is very secure. Guests can only use the elevators with the assistance of the door person. Upon leaving a unit they can only return to the ground floor unless a resident assists with the elevator.

THE CONDOS

Units range from 1 to 5 bedrooms. All the units have high speed Internet, gas fireplaces and at least one balcony. Most of the condos I’ve shown have primarily GE Profile or Monogram appliances. Cooking appliances are gas. The most recent sale was 4503, a 2 bedroom that sold in May for $1,360,000.
