The number of condos and townhouses listed for sale in downtown Chicago’s 60605 zip code (roughly the South Loop) reached a 2 year low on the last day of May. There were 145 such homes for sale down 36.4% from 228 at the end of May 2009.

As shown above, the number of condos and townhouses for sale in 60605 has been dropping fairly steadily since April 2010. Falling inventory is good for sellers since they are competing with fewer other homes for sale. The fact that the inventory of such homes reached a 2 year low in May is especially significant since the number of homes for sale in Chicago is typically at its highest in the spring months.
