As has happened many times, I was in the middle of negotiating a home purchase when I left for vacation in Provincetown, MA last week. My partner, Mary Kaye, and I go there for a week during the summer almost every year.
The home seller (for sale by owner) and I came to a verbal agreement on Friday. Later that day I used a local office services shop to fax the updated offer to myself so I would have a pdf file to email the seller since he didn’t have a fax machine. Saturday morning the email still hadn’t shown up. I called my efax service provider, GoDaddy.com, and they confirmed that the system wasn’t working. Sunday morning the system still wasn’t working so I set out in search of a friendly real estate office since all the office services shops were closed.
The first four real estate offices I came to were also closed, but the next, Atlantic Bay Sotheby’s International Realty, was open. Realtor Mike DuBour graciously let me use their fax machine to fax the offer to the seller’s daughter. Thank you again, Mike!
