Albany Park Area vs. Albany Park Neighborhood

Yesterday while researching the Albany Park condo market I was puzzled why a condo building had units listed in the North Park area of Chicago. Then I realized the condo building was in the Albany Park Neighborhood, but not in the Albany Park Area. If that’s confusing, let me explain the difference.

The Albany Park Area is one of 77 official areas within Chicago. According to the city of Chicago’s Albany Park Area Map the area borders are the Chicago River on the east, Foster Ave. and the north branch of the Chicago River on the north, Cicero and Elston on the west and Montrose on the south. To see where the Albany Park Area is in relation to other areas of Chicago, view the Albany Park, Chicago page in Wilkipedia.

The Albany Park Neighborhood still has the Chicago River on the east border, but extends farther north to Bryn Mawr (in the North Park Area), only goes as far west as Pulaski, and extends farther south to Irving Park Rd (in the Irving Park Area). For more information about the Albany Park Neighborhood, visit the Albany Park Neighborhood Council site.
