Aurora vs. Naperville

in Aurora, Naperville

This morning I showed houses for sale in Naperville and Aurora. My buyers got a good idea of the amount of house you get in the same price range in the far west side of Aurora (west of Orchard Rd.) vs. the northeast side of Aurora (east of Eola Rd.) vs. the northwest part of Naperville (west of the west branch of the DuPage River). The closer to Chicago you get, the less house you get for the same money, but it will take you less time to get to Chicago.

There are also the differences between the towns. In 2006 Money Magazine picked Naperville as the 2nd best U.S. small city to live in. Naperville was named “Most Kid-Friendly City in America” by Population Connection (formerly called Zero Population Growth). In 2002 the American Association of Retired Persons tapped Naperville as one of its “top ten small towns for senior citizens”.

Aurora is better known for its entertainment and shopping amenities. I’ve enjoyed some great shows at the Paramount Theater in downtown Aurora. I’ve also had some fun at the Hollywood Casino which is also in downtown Aurora. Aurora also has 2 large malls, the Westfield Shoppingtown Fox Valley along Route 59 and the Chicago Premium Outlets along I-88. Aurora also has its more serious side as home of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy and host of the annual Midwest Literary Festival.
