Last night I reviewed market statistics for house sales in Barrington. A friend of mine who owns a house in Barrington is wondering if she should sell her home now.
The median sale price# for houses in Barrington for the last quarter of 2008 dropped 27% from the same period a year earlier from $642,500 to $471,250! This is a sharp drop from 3rd quarter 2008 when the median house sale price dropped 6% from the same period a year earlier from $675,000 to $634,000.
So there are buying opportunities in Barrington where home values have appreciated well above national levels. As shown in the chart from Zillow below, house and condos values have more than doubled in Barrington in the last 10 years, even with the big pullback last quarter!
