Buyers, Don’t Forget Homeowners Insurance

Yesterday I received a call from one of my buyers asking for the cell phone number for her mortgage consultant. Since her closing for a home in Glen Ellyn was today, I suspected that everything wasn’t in place.

Indeed, when we did a final walkthrough of the home this morning she shared that as of 4 p.m. yesterday she didn’t have proof of homeowners insurance which is required for a home mortgage. She had called her insurance agent at the beginning of the week, but he hadn’t gotten back to her. She still couldn’t get a hold of him late yesterday, so he now has one less client. Another agent who was available and willing to stay late to get her the policy now has a new client.
