Case-Shiller Index for Chicago down 1.9% in January

Chicago’s Case-Shiller Index for January fell 1.9% from December. The drop in December was 2.0%. The index is down 6.6% from January 2011.

The housing index is at its January 2001 level. The Case-Shiller Index for Chicago is based on resales of houses in the Chicago Metro Area. It’s published with a 2 month lag.

The Chicago Case-Shiller Condominium Index for January fell 2.6% from December. The drop in December was 4.8%. The condo index is down 9.7% from January 2011. It’s back to its February 2000 level.
