Chicago Case-Shiller Index rises 4.5% in May!

Chicago’s Case-Shiller Index for May rose 4.5% from April. The increase from March to April was 1.1%

The index is down 3.0% from May 2011. It’s back to its February 2001 level. The Case-Shiller Index for Chicago is based on resales of houses in the Chicago Metro Area. It’s published with a 2 month lag.

The Chicago Case-Shiller Condominium Index for May rose 4.7% from April. It rose 0.7% from March to April. The condo index is down 5.1% from May 2011. It’s back to its March 2000 level.

Of the 20 metropolitan areas tracked for the Case-Shiller Index Chicago had the highest increase for May.
