in Uptown

Uptown's Green Mill & CrewYesterday I met with a couple of gentlemen who rent in Uptown and are now ready to buy.

One of the more interesting parts of Uptown is the commercial district around the intersection of Lawrence and Broadway. The photo on the left is of the west side of Broadway just north of Lawrence.

The Green Mill is a jazz club that opened in 1907. The club has quite a history with headliners such as Al Jolson and Sophie Tucker. A mobster owned part of the club in the 1920′s. Today the club is known for the Uptown Poetry Slam.

Next to The Green Mill is a recent addition to the neighborhood, Crew, a gay sports bar & grill. Crew was named “Best sports bar in Chicago 2007″ by AOL’s CityGuide.
