I spent part of today showing houses priced between $500K and $700K in Deer Park, Barrington and Barrington Hills to an executive relocating here for a position in the northwest suburbs.
A home I showed in Deer Park is on a lot just under 1 acre which is considered small by Deer Park standards! Typically, lots there are 1 acre or more. Deer Park is also different from other suburbs in that you won’t see a lot of fences. The village wants to maintain an “open look” and “country characteristics”. For more information on Deer Park visit Village of Deer Park.
On our way to Barrington Hills we passed some gorgeous horse farms on Lake Cook Road. If you’re looking for a scenic drive, head out that way on a Sunday afternoon.

The great big horse farm on Lake Cook (about 4 miles from my house) belongs to Richard Duchossois, the owner of Arlington Race Track. A friend who lives across the street from him told me his farm is 1000 acres. Wow! now THAT’S a lot size!
