Today’s Chicago Tribune New Homes Section has a good article by Sharon Stangenes on some new condominiums in Des Plaines. Sharon mentioned the great transportation options that Des Plaines has.
I-294 runs along the east side and I-90 runs along the south side of Des Plaines. The Metra Union Pacific Train Line can take you into Chicago or as far out as Harvard. In neighboring Rosemont you can even catch the “L” Blue Line into Chicago. There are also nearly a dozen Pace Bus Routes throughout Des Plaines.
One of the things I like best about Des Plaines is the River Rand Bowl at the intersection of, you guessed it — River Rd. and Rand Rd. I went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and noticed that the staff were very nice. I was there again this afternoon and found them to be just as friendly. I don’t have a passion for bowling, but I’ve found it a great way to get to know people. A friendly place like the River Rand Bowl makes the experience even more enjoyable.

Saturday February 4th seems to have been a big day for Des Plaines. The town was also featured on “My Kind Of Town”, a talk radio program on 560 AM WIND that morning.
I live in Des Plaines and I was the featured Real Estate Professional on the program that morning. I would have to concur with Sharon, the transportation is splendid and the condo’s are booming. I also agree with you Fran, River Rand Bowl is a fun, friendly and lively spot. It’s an excellent place to meet and greet.
That, however, only scratches the surface. Des Plaines is definitely a rising star. The influx of new business is astounding. Try getting into Jimmy Buffett’s Cheeseburger In Paradise on a Friday or Saturday night. The rest of The Metropolitan Square development should be in place by this summer and downtown Des Plaines will be right up there with the best of the best along the northwest rail corridor.
Besides, it the home to the second best REALTOR® in the area. You of course be number 1.
Thanks for noticing Des Plaines. Perhaps I will do Arlington Heights on my blog one fine day.
