Afterwards, I should have stopped in at Durty Nellie’s in downtown Palatine (180 N. Smith) to warm up. Durty Nellie’s has been a neighborhood pub in Palatine for over 35 years, but it isn’t just a typical neighborhood pub. It features local and national bands and an impressive food and beer menu. The ever changing beer menu features numerous ales and lagers.

Are you just a fan of Durty Nellie’s, or do you have a connection to the owners?

I have no connection with the owners. I just like to let prospective homebuyers know about businesses that help give a suburb or neighborhood part of it’s character.

Ah, Fran, an institution that survived my wild and impetuous youth! Listened to many a fine band over way too many beers there – thanks for the memories!
