Father & Son Grocery ShoppingYesterday 2 different gentlemen contacted me about condos in Lakeview. One lives in Michigan and is thinking of relocating to Boystown. The other used to live in Lakeview, moved to the suburbs and now wants to come back to Lakeview. The second gentleman mentioned that he ideally wanted a place close to the Jewel Grocery Store at Broadway & Addison so he wouldn’t have far to go for groceries.

When looking for a home, buyers want a location that isn’t far from a grocery store since it’s at least a weekly visit for most of us. If you want to know where the groceries stores are in Lakeview or anywhere else in the Chicago area, there a couple of websites I recommend. Yelp.Com shows grocery stores on a map, gives addresses and user reviews. Just enter “grocery” in the Search For field and “Lakeview, Chicago, IL” in the Near field to find the grocery stores in Lakeview.

You can also see where grocery stores are located near homes for sale you are looking at online. When looking at a listing on BairdWarner.Com, click on the map button. In the map window, click the Show additional interests… drop down list and select grocery stores. The map will redraw showing you where grocery stores are located near the home for sale.

Centrum Properties have a few projects in the Chi area that have grocery stores VERY close by, in addition to other convenient retail (like coffee shops and banks) directly below them.

A couple projects I would suggest checking out are the lofts at the Lakeview Collection (located on Lincoln, Belmont and Ashland) and the mid-rise condominiums at the Roosevelt Collection. Each of these have a Whole Foods close by and Roosevelt also has a Dominick’s.
