Learning About Lakeview

in Lakeview

I spent yesterday afternoon helping a couple of out-of-town buyers get familiar with the Lakeview area of Chicago. With all there is in Lakeview, they were on information overload by early evening.

They wanted to know where the grocery stores were. Counting only Jewel, Dominick’s and Whole Foods there are 6 grocery stores in Lakeview. Another Whole Foods is planned on Halstead just north of Addison in 2007. I pointed out some of the better know restaurants such as Ann Sather’s on Belmont, Mia Francesca’s on Clark, and Mystic Celt on Southport. They saw numerous gyms, theaters, coffee shops, drinking establishments and retail stores.

I pointed out some of the “L” stops (both Red and Brown) and we took the red line down to River North and back. To finish off the afternoon I made the mistake of heading up Sheffield towards Addison just as the Cubs games was letting out of Wrigley Field. We were stuck in traffic for several minutes as hoards of Cubs fans streamed by my car. Maybe that wasn’t a mistake. My buyers learned a little bit more about Lakeview. :)
