Today’s Daily Herald reported that median home values across Chicago’s suburbs rose between 26% and 39% between 2000 and 2005. Below is the U.S. Census Bureau data by county.

Fran, this is a great chart. I think with all the media hysteria about the Real Estate market prices & time on market have to put into perspective. While my investments may have gone up more than my house has since 2000, I haven’t been able to eat dinner in a mutual fund, or host my friends for parties, etc. Housing is more than a good investment — but it’s that, too. Thanks for the reminder!
