Yesterday I showed homes in Morton Grove. It’s a northern suburb bordered by Skokie on the east, Glenview on the north and Niles on the west and south.
It’s not an exciting town and the residents like it that way. In 1981 Morton Grove became the first U.S. city to ban the possession and sale of handguns.
My friend, Michael, who lives in Morton Grove says, “The best things about Morton Grove are the schools and the parks.” To check out Morton Grove schools visit the Illinois State Board of Education Report Cards. Around 20% of the land in Morton Grove is owned by the Cook County Forest Preserve District. My buyers said they saw 4 deer right before our showings started!
Morton Grove real estate prices are among the lowest in the near north suburbs. During the past 12 months the average price1 for a house in Morton Grove was $427K, slightly below neighbors Skokie ($433K) and Niles ($443K) and well below Glenview ($755K). If you’re a home buyer who doesn’t want to be more than 30 minutes from the city, that’s exciting!

The one thing about Morton Grove i used to love was that they had $1 movie theater. It was on dempster. But it closed about 5-6 years ago. I used to go all the time when i was in highschool. My wife and i went on our first date there when i was 16. But it’s good to see that there are some other fun things there as well. But i’ll always miss $1 movies…
