One of my buyers informed me recently that she wanted to put looking at houses on hold because she didn’t want to move during the winter. Moving isn’t fun regardless of season. I can understand that the thought of moving when there’s snow on the ground doesn’t make it any better. However, that’s one of the reasons why November, December and January are the best months to buy a home in the Chicago area. The number of buyers drops which gives those who are buying more negotiating power.
It’s just like buying stocks. Prices are lowest when buyers are fewest. Next spring when there are lots of buyers, sellers will be less likely to take a lower offer.

And, your buyer is forgetting that with global warming winter in Chicago now = winter in St. Louis a few years ago. It ain’t what it used to be!
