Outer Drive East is located between Field Blvd and Harbor Drive just north of Millennium Park at 400 E. Randolph. Chicago’s lakefront is 2 blocks east. The lakefront is 4 blocks east. Michigan Avenue is 2 blocks west.

Outer Drive East was built in 1963. Back then it was the world’s largest apartment building. It was also east of Lake Shore Drive which was rerouted in the 1980s.
The high-rise houses 955 apartments in its 40 stories and 645 parking spaces. The building has a domed indoor pool, bike room, sauna, sundeck, exercise room, common laundry, party room, racquetball and basketball court. It also has a dry cleaner, hair salon, restaurant and bar, and a food mart. Parking is leased. Pets are ok.
Outer Drive East also has it’s own shuttle bus serving the Loop and Near North Side. It runs daily except on major holidays.
The T-shaped building provides 3 types of views. Those units on the south side of the building (top of the T) have outstanding views of Lake Michigan, Millennium Park and the city. Those on the north and west side of the building have excellent city views and some have small views of Millennium Park to the south. Those on the east and north side of the building have partial lake views which are interrupted by other high-rises.
