Yesterday, a couple of buyers and I visited the Toll Brothers’ Hawthorn Woods Country Club Development. Hawthorn Woods is a beautiful, quiet area in the northwest suburbs.
When you buy a new house the lot it will sit on typically isn’t included in the price. As with the houses, lot prices vary depending primarily on size and location. A big lot with a great view will command a premium price.
Hawthorn Woods Country Club is 3 years old so quite a few lots have been sold, but several lots are still available. There’s quite a variety of lots. Smaller ones are around a quarter of an acre. Larger ones average a half acre. Some sit next to the golf course. Some don’t. My buyers were interested in a lot on a higher elevation, so the sales manager drove us out to the higher areas. One of the lots even had a platform so we could see what the view would be like from inside the future house.
Pick your lot wisely. It will provide your view for as long as you own the house!
