This afternoon a family relocating from Michigan sent me a list of 9 houses they would like in see in Naperville. They developed the list by looking at homes for sale on Realtor.Com. Before they sent the list, I mentioned that one or two of the homes might no longer be on the market. When homes go under contract (the seller accepts an offer) or are temporarily pulled off the market the change in status isn’t shown on Realtor.Com.
I checked the list of 9 homes from Realtor.Com and found that only 3 of the 9 were still on the market! 4 were under contract, 1 was temporarily off the market, and 1 had a home close contingency.
Realtor.com is fine, if you just want to get an idea of what you can get for the money in an area, but if you don’t want to waste time looking at listings that are no longer active, use a MLS listings search tool like BairdWarner.Com’s HomeFinder which updates statuses daily and shows when listings are no longer active. Yes, I’m biased as a Baird & Warner real estate agent, but up-to-date listing information is one of the reasons why BairdWarner.Com has the most traffic of any Chicago real estate website.
