Shown left is a home for sale I recently showed in the Scarsdale Estates neighborhood of Arlington Heights. Scarsdale Estates also known as just Scarsdale is considered one of the top 3 Arlington Heights neighborhoods along with the Stonegate and Sherwood subdivisions which all started in 1929.
Scarsdale is a beautiful neighborhood with lots of mature trees. There is a variety of house styles with lots of Georgians, Colonials, Tudors and some sprawling ranches on the southern end. The average sale price1 for Scarsdale houses in the past 12 months was $555K (up 4.7% over the previous 12 months). The average sale price for all houses in Arlington Heights in the same period was $440K.
Located in the southern part of Arlington Heights, just east of Arlington Heights Road, Scarsdale residents can be on I-90 in less than 10 minutes. Downtown Arlington Heights and the Metra Station are only 5 minutes away.
One of the things you’ll notice missing in the photo is a sidewalk. They’re rare in Scarsdale. My buyer is looking for a home for her mother and herself and decided to pass on this house since there is no sidewalk. Even though this is a quiet neighborhood, she didn’t want her elderly mother to have to walk in the street.

Boy that takes me back- when I was growing up, in Arlington High School, Scarsdale was the hipper than hip neighborhood (and, to my teenage angst sorrow, not where I lived!). Looks like it still is. Thanks, Fran!
Do you have the average sale prices for Sherwood and Stonegate?
Sorry, Jane. There were so few sales in both of those Arlington Heights neighborhoods in the past 12 months, that any statistics are fairly meaningless. According to MLSNI, there were only 5 house sales between Sherwood and Stonegate.
