This is my 2012 ranking for the most expensive condo buildings in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. Only condo buildings that had at least 2 sales recorded in Chicago’s multiple listing service (MRED) that closed in 2012 were included in the rankings. Only listed sales were used in determining median sale price for a building.
This year’s building list varies from 2011 due to new construction and renovated resale units. Half of those ranked with the higher median price are located in east Lincoln Park and close to the lake and park.
A noteworthy mention from the list is 2550 N Lakeview which is a new construction luxury condo building housing 228 units. Only 10 of the 38-recorded units sold were under $1M. The most expensive unit sold in 2012 was $4,275,00.
Two of the buildings ranked in this year’s top 10 are co-op apartment buildings. Ranked at number 5 is 2230-2256 N Lincoln Park West-The Shakespeare that is a vintage arts and craft style building. The second co-op building ranked number 6 is 399 W Fullerton Parkway, which is a Renaissance style vintage that is one of Chicago’s Historic Landmarks.
The majority of Lincoln Park’s most expensive condo and co-op buildings are located on N Lakeview, Lincoln Park West and Fullerton Parkway. Most of these luxury units have lake and park views.
