A Transgender LogoA transgender woman called me the other morning. She and her partner will be moving from Texas to Chicago. During our conversation she shared that buying a home in Texas had not been a pleasant experience for them. She wanted to make sure they worked with a Realtor they could be comfortable with here in Chicago.

I shared with her that they would be very comfortable with me and she would not be my first transgender client. From experience I know that some additional legal work is needed at times for transgender home buyers and sellers due to name changes. One former client was a man when she bought a home. She transitioned and legally changed her name, but the man’s name was still on her deed.

It’s a shame that there are still real estate agents who shy away from working with members of the transgender community. They miss out on getting to know people who have probably done more soul searching and self examination than they ever will.

If you are a transgender home buyer or seller looking for a Realtor outside of the Chicago metro area that you would be comfortable with, call me. I know Realtors from coast to coast who would love to work with you!
