I have a client, Shawn, who has challenged me to find him a downtown home “without developer finishes”. He wants a home that is unique. I haven’t found the right home for Shawn yet, but I have previewed or shown a few homes lately that are unique.
Below is my list of unique downtown Chicago homes for sale. I’ll update it as I find new unique homes.
My criteria are fairly stringent:
- A custom home isn’t necessarily a unique home. It has to be distinctive.
- A luxury home isn’t necessarily a unique home. There are many luxury homes downtown. A unique home is significantly different in some way.
- The home also needs to be unusual within its building. The 01 tier at 840 N Lake Shore Drive is distinctive with its rotundas, but there are several 01 units in the building. So that alone doesn’t make any of them unique.
