Realtor.Com is the most widely used home listing website, but Chicago area home buyers have a much better alternative, BairdWarner.Com. Yes, I’m a Realtor with Baird & Warner, so I’m not totally unbiased, but here’s why it really is a much better web site to use when looking for a home.
1. The data on BairdWarner.Com is more up-to-date. I often have home buyers I’m working with ask me about a home on Realtor.Com only to find that it is already under contract or that the sale has actually closed.
2. Listings on BairdWarner.Com often have more photos than listings on Realtor.Com. In researching what home buyers want in a web site, Baird & Warner found that multiple home photos were the most requested feature.
3. Both web sites offer maps for listings, but the BairdWarner.Com map is interactive allowing home buyers to display nearby properties for sale, schools, restaurants, and other neighborhood features.
4. Home buyers who register on BairdWarner.Com’s Home Finder system not only have access to every listing in both Chicago area multiple listings systems, but can get get automated e-mails when new homes come on the market that meet their search criteria.
