This week I showed a house in Prairie View, a north suburb most Chicago area residents have never heard of. Prairie View is a small, unincorporated town in between Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire and Vernon Hills.
A search for Prairie View homes on BairdWarner.com shows 17 properties currently for sale ranging from less than $200K to nearly $800K. The housing inventory is 99% houses.
While Prairie View may be small, there are two good reasons for considering buying a home there. First, it’s served by Stevenson High School which has been awarded multiple Blue Ribbon Awards for Excellence in Education from the U.S. Department of Education. Newsweek ranked it 5th in the state in 2008.
Second, no matter where you live in Prairie View, you’re not far from a Metra Station. In the northern part of Prairie View is the Prairie View Metra Station. The southern part of Prairie View is close to the Buffalo Grove Metra Station (shown left).
