Chicago condo sales in various price ranges 2010 vs. 2009

The number of condos sold in Chicago in 2010 compared to 2009 increased or decreased depending on the price range. As shown below the number of sales below $100,000 rose dramatically, up 63%. In the in the $200,000 to $400,000 price range they fell significantly, down 21% in the $200,000 to $300,000 price range and down 17% in the $300,000 to $400,000 range. The number of sales in the $600,000 to $700,000 range were also down 14%.

You can’t see it from the chart, but the total number of sales below $1,000,000 were down 4% while the number of sales between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000 up up 41%. The number of sales between $2,000,000 and $3,000,000 were also up 158%.

The median Chicago condo sale price in 2010 was $262,500, down 5.9% from 2009.
