The biggest challenge in finding Chicago condos for sale with a roof deck is filtering out those condos that have access to a common roof deck from those that have their own private roof deck. Roof decks (also called rooftop decks) are often mentioned in listing descriptions without it being clear whether they are private or common.

Not all private roof decks are immediately accessible from their units. Some developers partitioned roofs so that each unit could have its own roof deck space. In those buildings residents below the top floor will have to take the stairs (or elevator, is there is one) to their roof deck.
