THE CONDOS

Aqua apartments with a condo form of ownership range from studios to 3 bedrooms. Studios have 573 to 584 square feet. One bedroom condos have 571 to 1,550 square feet. Two bedroom condos have 1,090 to 1,900 square feet. Three bedroom condos have 1,581 to 3,631 square feet. Aqua penthouses are on floors 76 to 81.

All of the condos have balconies, floor to ceiling windows and a washer and dryer. Cooking appliances are gas. Since the condos are on the upper floors of the building they all have great city and/or lake views!

THE BUILDING

Aqua was built in 2009 at 225 North Columbus Drive. The building is known for its unique exterior with irregularly shaped balconies that create the appearance of water flowing down. It won the Emporis Skyscraper Award in 2009. Aqua is also known as the third tallest building in the world currently with a woman as the lead architect.

The building houses 260+ condos at the top of its 81 stories. It’s the fifth tallest residential building in Chicago and the ninth tallest in the United States.

The condos are above 474 rental apartments and the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago. The condos, apartments and hotel rooms all have separate entrances and elevators.

The tower has both indoor and outdoor pools, a bike room, sauna, sundeck, exercise room, yoga/pilates room, running track, basketball court, media room and party room. It also has a dry cleaner, concierge and access to Chicago’s Pedway. As of May 2024 residents may order room service from the Radison Blu.

Parking is deeded. Pets are ok. Utilities included in the monthly assessment are: air conditioning, cable TV, gas, heat and water.

THE LOCATION

225 N Columbus is located between Lake and South Water north of Millennium Park. It’s in the New Eastside neighborhood of Chicago’s Loop and part of the Lakeshore East Development. The lakefront is 4 blocks east. Michigan Avenue is 2 blocks west.

The Aqua building currently has a Walk Score of 94 and a Transit Score of 100. Multiple bus stops are within 2 blocks. Multiple car sharing services are on the same block. The stop for almost every L line is around half a mile away.
