THE CONDOS

Marina City apartments have a condominium form of ownership. They range from studios to 3 bedrooms. Studios have 500 to 600 square feet. One bedroom condos have 575 to 800 SF. Two bedroom condos have 1,200 to 1,500 SF. Three bedroom condos have 2,500+ SF.

All of the condos have floor to ceiling windows and a curved balcony. Washers and dryers can be installed. As you would expect given the round shape of the towers, the units are shaped like slices of pie getting wider from the entrances to the balconies. Penthouses are on the 60th floor.

2/26/2020 UPDATE:  Units in the Marina Towers sell much faster on average than other condos in the Near North Side. Their average market time during the past 12 months was only 26 days! The average for all Near North Side condos was 114 days. Half of the Marina Towers condos that sold during the past 12 months had signed contracts in 10 days or less!

THE BUILDING

Built in 1964 each round tower has 61 stories with residential units above 15 floors of parking. The towers were the tallest apartment buildings in the world when completed. They were designed by the architect, Bertrand Goldberg. They are often referred to as Chicago’s round towers, the corn on the cob or just corn cob buildings.

There are a total of 896 condos. Marina Towers is the residential portion of the Marina City complex which also includes The House of Blues, Sax Hotel, Bin 36, a bowling alley and a bank. Restaurants Smith and Wollensky and Dick’s Last Resort are above the marina on the Chicago River.

Amenities include 24 hr. door staff, exercise room, bike room, sundeck as well as storage. Marina Towers is one of the few condos in Chicago with its own boat dock.

THE LOCATION

Marina City is located on the west side of State just north of the Chicago River at 300 N State St. It’s 3 blocks west of the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue and just north of Chicago’s Loop.

There’s a Jewel grocery store 4 blocks away. There’s a CVS Pharmacy within 3 blocks. The #65/Grand which runs east and west

It currently has a Walk Score of 98 and a Transit Score of 100. This section of River North is an extremely walkable with numerous amenities in all directions. There are multiple car sharing services within a block. Marina Towers is 3 blocks from most L lines at Lake and State.

The #29/State and #36/Broadway buses which run north and south have stops right by the towers. The #65/Grand bus which runs east and west is 3 to 4 blocks to the north.

300 N State has a Bike Score of 84. There are 2 Divvy bike sharing stations just a block away.

According to WalkScore.com, the location has a Crime Grade of A. That means it’s a lowest crime area compared to all of Chicago.
