THE CONDOS
The Carlyle apartments have a condo form of ownership. Floor plans are quite spacious. One bedroom condos have 2,230 square feet of space. Two bedroom condos have 2,700 to 3,380 square feet. Three bedroom condos have 2,950 to 4,600 square feet. Penthouses are on floors 37 to 39.
All units have east, unobstructed views of Lake Michigan, west views and at least one balcony. Cooking appliances are electric.
What’s distinctive about all of the condos is that the master suites all have 2 baths, even the 1 bedrooms! On the floor plans they’re titled “His Bath” and “Her Bath” and many of the listings refer to his and her baths. Since we’ve progressed a bit since the building was built in the mid 1960s perhaps dual master baths would be a more appropriate term.

THE BUILDING
This 40 story building with 130 condos was built in 1964. A and B units are accessed via the south elevators. C and D units are accessed via the north elevators. The top floor of The Carlyle includes an indoor pool and new exercise room. There’s also huge party room with a massive kitchen. The kitchen can definitely accommodate large events!
On-site parking is leased with valet service provided. There is also guest parking and a laundry room.
There are 24 hour door staff with 3 door staff from 6 am to 11 pm. The staff will bring all groceries and other packages to your unit.
This is a no pet building. No dogs. No cats. This was not the case when the building first opened. One story told is that someone’s dog relieved itself on the then condo board president several years ago and the pet ban was passed shortly thereafter!
The Carlyle Condo Association also prohibits grilling on private balconies and on the 2 roof decks. There have been some discussions about providing grills on the roof decks. Utilities included in the monthly assessment include cable TV, Internet access and water.
