The drop in the inventory of listed Chicago luxury condos for sale slowed significantly in the third quarter. There were 544 condos for sale in Chicago priced $1 million or higher in the third quarter down only 0.4% from third quarter 2012 when there were 546 such condos for sale.
The inventory of listed condos for sale in Streeterville is down significantly from a year ago. There were 249 condos for sale in Streeterville in August down 33% from August 2012 when there were 369 condos for sale.
The Chicago Case-Shiller Condominium Index for July is up 14.0% from July 2012, the largest increase in the history of the index! The second largest increase was 12.5% in July 2000.
The inventory of listed downtown Chicago condos for sale continues to drop. There were 2,666 condos for sale in downtown Chicago in the second quarter down 14.6% from second quarter 2012 when there were 3,123 condos for sale.
The inventory of listed Gold Coast condos for sale is well less than half what it was a year ago. There were 216 condos for sale in Gold Coast in August down 60% from August 2012 when there were 363 condos for sale.
